In 2006, management at the Hospital decided to bring a fresh perspective to the way in which Aut Even Hospital approached the quality of patient services.
Lean healthcare transformation methodologies were deployed to help the Hospital achieve exemplary quality throughout its processes and systems and to put patients and customers at the absolute forefront of the Hospital’s objectives.
Primarily, lean healthcare is about involving our staff and harnessing their expertise to lead change. We want to ensure that all of our processes and systems are free of waste and are defect-free. It’s a big ask, but that’s our vision and that’s where we’re heading.
As a result of our implementation of lean methodologies, we have increased overall productivity, reduced stock levels across our theatre environment, utilised space in better ways and organised our patient journeys more effectively.
Most importantly, lean healthcare supports a culture of continuous improvement which ensures a service that is evidence based, standardised and safe. Our improvements are then effectively sustained because everyone is involved.
